VTAM/Express for z/OS Category: Systems Management, Performance Management VTAM/Express is a terminal datastream compression product which runs at the VTAM level. Its function is to eliminate, as much as possible, superfluous characters in datastreams that are transmitted to and from the host CPU and the terminals. Since the number of characters in a datastream is the major factor in determining the response time for an on-line transaction, the elimination of extra characters can significantly reduce that time. Most users experience a 55 to 80% reduction in terminal traffic with VTAM/Express, which results in dramatic savings both in time and cost of the computer installation usage.
VTAM/Windows for z/OS Category: Performance Management, Session Manager VTAM/Windows is a powerful tool for improving productivity in the world of on-line systems. It is not only a multiple session manager but also a multiple window manager which operates at the VTAM level. This means that you can conduct up to nine concurrent sessions, accessing up to nine VTAM application systems from a single terminal.
