DB2 Thread Management
Category:
DBA
Thread/STOPPER deals with the inevitable DB2 "problem" threads that arise from operational mistakes, network failures, application errors and runaway queries. These problematic DB2 threads can consume considerable system resources, create serious contention problems and impair the performance and availability of critical systems and data. Thread/ STOPPER lets authorized users cancel such threads gracefully -- before they impact your system and disrupt large numbers of users. It can also clear the way for critical applications and utilities to run without contention.

Dynamic task and STEP libraries
Category:
Systems Management
TASKLIB lets you reconfigure your STEPLIB and task library concatenations dynamically within ISPF and maintain a discrete search order for each logical screen. TASKLIB can dramatically improve the performance of the TSO LOGON procedure and permits all users to share a single, simple LOGON proc. Program search times are minimized with TASKLIB and repetitive LOGON/LOGOFF sequences are eliminated. TASKLIB seamlessly extends the ISPF LIBDEF ISPLLIB service so you can run ISPF applications that issue ATTACH, LINK, LOAD and XCTL macros and avoid the S806 abends that are otherwise inevitable. TASKLIB supports task library stacking and recursive invocation and provides a comprehensive display of TSO/ISPF tasks and load library allocations. TASKLIB lets you switch among multiple DB2 subsystems during an ISPF session, promotes more granular security for applications and enables sites to achieve significant cost savings.

Host/EDIT
Category:
Data Manipulation
Host/EDIT is the versatile RI editor for DB2 data, VSAM files and ISPF tables. Host/EDIT graphically displays relationships among related sets of tables and lets you access DB2 data through SQL, Query by Example and DRAW facilities.

Launch Express
Category:
Application Development
Launch Express for ISPF is a complete solution and methodology for ISPF application management. It can reduce LOGON CPU and elapsed times by as much as 90% and dramatically simplify LOGON procedure maintenance. Launch Express lets you run any ISPF application dynamically and enables access to multiple DB2 subsystems within a single ISPF session.

REXX Language eXtensions for DB2
Category:
DB2
RLX/SQL provides embedded SQL support for REXX as robust and flexible as that for COBOL. RLX EXECs can be developed rapidly and tested immediately without the preprocess, compile, linkedit and bind steps normally required by DB2 applications written in compiled languages. RLX/SQL includes a DECLARE REXXSTEM service which lets you copy SQL result tables directly into REXX stemmed arrays. RLX/TSO provides a REXX SQL implementation that, in REXX parlance, is integrated into TSO/E and exploits available ISPF facilities. When errors occur, for example, RLX/TSO uses ISPF services to display full screen, scrollable diagnostic panels. RLX/CAF allows user-written applications to create, manage and switch among multiple, concurrently active DB2 plan threads. It enables you to connect to multiple DB2 subsystems simultaneously and lets you maintain multiple threads fro each subsystem. Both CAF and RRSAF are supported as DB2 attachment facilities.

REXX Language eXtensions for rapid application development
Category:
Application Development
RLX designates a family of REXX Language Xtensions that endow REXX with additional capabilities. Together they make REXX a viable replacement for compiled host languages so you can 'Do it all in REXX.'

REXX Language eXtensions for z/OS, OS/390 and MVS
Category:

RLX/VSAM provides a simple and intuitive VSAM interface that's native to REXX. It supports all read, write and delete operations on VSAM ESDS, KSDS and RRDS files -- on a record and control interval basis. It also supports control interval processing of VSAM linear datasets. RLX/VSAM is modeled after the DFP macro interface so programmers familiar with VSAM coding conventions can use RLX/VSAM almost immediately. RLX/VSAM brochure. RLX/SDK is an evolving Software Development Kit that affords native access to MVS system services, as well as facilities for partitioned dataset I/O, resource control, parsing, tokenizing, sorting and many other functions. AcceleREXX dramatically improves the performance of your REXX EXECs while protecting them from modification. The AcceleREXX compiler provides an ISPF dialog framework to compile and link multiple EXECs together and even combine them into REXX function packages. RLX/Translate converts your TSO CLISTs into REXX procedures. Once translated, all your command procedures can be maintained as REXX execs which can be further extended and compiled with the rest of the RLX product family.

Smart Application Restart
Category:
Systems Management, Disaster Recovery
Smart/RESTART makes it as easy as possible to make both new and existing applications restartable. Without complicated restart logic or cumbersome operational procedures. Often without changes to source code. Smart/RESTART guarantees that updates to DB2, WebMQ, IMS and other RRS compliant resources stay in synch with your program's sequential file and cursor position, working storage and random VSAM updates. This enables your applications to restart from near the point of failure after abends, recompiles, and even system IPLs -- with all resources in a consistent state. Smart/RESTART fully supports SMS compressed and extended format datasets and interoperates with DFSMS Advanced Copy Services like XRC, PPRC and FlashCopy. Smart/RESTART enhances your disaster recovery capability to provide a total batch recovery solution.

Smart DB2 Batch
Category:
DB2
Smart/RRSAF lets you run DB2 batch programs with regular JCL, so they look and behave like standard OS jobs. This ensures accurate SMF job accounting and accurate jobstep completion codes to prevent SNAFUs in DB2 batch production. Smart/RRSAF transparently supports both RRSAF and CAF. Applications can utilize either DB2 attachment without need for user code to manage an explicit DB2 connection. Smart/RRSAF enables your applications to update DB2, MQ, IMS and/or any other RRS compliant resources within a single unit of recovery and implements a variable COMMIT frequency. Trace application DB2 activity which may include SQL calls, RRSAF, CAF and IFI requests and/or DB2 commands. Moreover, you can migrate from TSO Attach to Smart/RRSAF without source changes. (Note: Smart/RRSAF is the successor product to Smart/CAF.)

Smart Jobstream Series
Category:
JCL/Job Management
The Smart Jobstream Series is an integrated set of products designed to keep your entire workload of production batch jobstreams running smoothly. These products are designed to simplify application development, maintenance and trouble shooting while improving the reliability, performance, manageability and throughput of your background jobstreams. Smart Jobstream components also reduce resource contention and prevent costly SNAFUs in batch.

Smart/QMF Batch Facility
Category:
DB2
The Smart/QMF Batch Facility (Smart/QBF) reflects SQL and QMF errors at the jobstep level -- so both people and software will know when a failure occurs. This ensures proper execution of downstream jobsteps and allows production control software to work correctly. Later investigation can tell at a glance what went wrong because Smart/QBF writes its diagnostics directly to the JES listing or a message file you define.
